Frequently Asked Questions

I'VE NEVER PLAYED ICE HOCKEY BEFORE BUT I THINK IT LOOKS FUN, CAN I ATTEND A CLINIC?

Yes, we welcome new women hockey players to our clinics and camps! Our coaches have worked with all levels of players, and we strive to meet every skater exactly where they are in their learning process. You will learn all of the basics of skating, stickhandling, and passing, in addition to game strategy and team concepts.

I DON'T HAVE FULL HOCKEY GEAR, CAN I STILL ATTEND A CLINIC?

You will need full gear to participate in the clinics or camps. You can ask friends or parents of kids who have played hockey before to see if they might have equipment you could borrow. Locally in Western Mass, Bertelli’s Skate Shop in West Springfield has both used and new equipment. They offer an “Introductory Package” that includes most of the equipment you will need. Also, Gateway Hardware in Springfield sells new and used equipment and skates. There are also several resources online to purchase gear, and many places have a “gear swap” sale before the season starts.

DO I HAVE TO GO TO ALL 8 WEEKLY CLINICS?

No! You’re welcome to drop in to any of the clinics. However, if you can attend all 8 clinics in the series you save money plus you guarantee yourself 8 weeks of great hockey instruction!

I'M NOT SURE IF I SHOULD CONSIDER MYSELF A BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE, OR ADVANCED PLAYER. HOW SHOULD I DECIDE?

A beginner player is very new to the game, just learning to skate, has only just begun to play in full equipment. You might consider yourself still a beginner if you are newer to the game but your skating skills are somewhat limited. An intermediate player has played several seasons of hockey with a team, or is an experienced skater. An advanced player is someone who has played more than five years of organized hockey on a high school, college or club hockey team.
